I have known The Robertsons for quite a few years now. Laurie had suggested the Howell Living History Farm for her maternity session.  I hadn’t been there before, so with a quick google search, I found a few pics online to see what it would look like as well as the history of the farm.

The history of Howell Farm is long and varied. Since farming began on this site in the 1730s, just about every type of farming situation has occurred there. The farm has evolved from a grain producing farm to a dairy farm and over the years various crops have been grown, animals raised, products produced, etc. The farm has gone through periods of family ownership and occupation and absentee owner/tenant farmer occupation.

Today the Farm exists in its rural setting as both an example of farming as it was practiced in New Jersey in the period 1890-1910 and as a landscape where one can find the remnants of over 250 years of farming practice and life

I also saw it happened to be close to my favorite town in New Jersey, which is Lambertville, and knew by default it would be great. Fall colors, pumpkins, and rustic barns and I silently said to myself, yass… yasss. We walked, we talked, we got hissed at by a feathered friend, and a good time was had by all. I definitely want to go back here again as it was a hidden gem of beauty. I also wanna thank my partner in crime, Kelly, for helping on this session. Several of her images are in with mine.

A few days ago, I got to photograph The Barsoum Family. Christina is also a photographer, so knowing how good the leaves were turning, and light was getting around this time of year, we headed to Monmouth Battlefield Park to make ample use of their grounds. What I love about this park is not only it’s size, but every time I go back there, I see something different. I loved so many moments from this session, here are just a few.

P.S. how cute is Cooper the doggy?

I got to meet the Brennan family this week at a local park in Westfield. They are friends of friends, and now we are friends haha. I loved this session because I got a bunch of candids as well as exercise while chasing the little one around. We found out as time progressed that somebody loved it when leaves were falling from the sky on him… Thankfully mom and dad did the throwing while I snapped away.

I met Lorin and Greg a few years ago and haven’t seen them since I moved to California. Now that I am back for a bit, on an overcast day, I got to meet up with them at Cattus Island and they showed me around some cool spots. For a photographer, every few feet was an even better place to take pictures. Here are a few of my favorites from their session

This was probably one of the best weddings I have done… There, I said it. But seriously though. The love and laughter Katie and Simon share is seen by all by both friends and family alike. On a hot summer day in August, I arrived at bride prep and photographed Katie at  The Grape Leaf Inn . Aside from it having the absolute coolest bathroom and shower, the suite was like it was taken out of a page from Anthropologie. After I got some of the getting ready shots, I headed to Foley Sonoma. Having photographed numerous winery weddings over the years, never before had I been impressed by both the layout, service and architecture of such an establishment. It’s almost as if they had consulted a photographer when building it, because there were so many little nooks for photos.

For the first look, we opted to make use of the shade as it got to a high of 107 that day. While walking up with Katie to get her in the spot, she affectionately told Simon, and I quote ” you look good from behind “. I knew at that very moment, the tone was set for the day. Before Simon even turned around, he already started smiling. We took a few portraits then it was onto the ceremony.  The ceremony overlooked a landscape of rolling hills and the vineyard, which is pretty cool if you ask me.

When it started to cool down, we took them out for some sunset photos at the exact right time. Soft dirt couldn’t stop Katie from walking into the vineyard with her Jimmy Choo’s for some portraits of the two of them. Side Note: I love when couples throw caution to the wind and go above and beyond for the photography. It always shows in the photos when it’s more about them then what may or may not get some dirt on it…

I loved this wedding so much and not just because they had a mini donut station that I went back to for seconds ( and thirds )

I want to give a shoutout to the staff of Foley Sonoma, Stephanie Beer of Covenant Coordinating and her team for making sure everything ran smoothly, as well as my two shooters, Rhett and Arjay

In the past few months, I’ve had something in the back of my mind. That something was a feeling I would get when traveling day to day places. I had it in my mind that I wanted to start photographing couples in non-conventional spaces. While I love photographing in fields and parks, I always wanted to try somewhere unique. The universe musta heard my thoughts and this past weekend I got to photograph Joyce and Kevin at IKEA. Inspired by 500 days of summer, they wanted to have their engagement session there.Being as this was my first time there in god knows how long, I wanted to incorporate the elegance of design as well as them in the respective spaces that were set before us. I loved this session so much and hope this trend continues of cool places to shoot.

While I was in Portland recently, I got to meet Kimi, Nate, and their two beautiful children through a mutual friend. On my last day there, I got to head to a local park and photograph their family session. Afterwards, we all had an amazing meal and now I have some new friends I hope to visit again as soon as possible. Here are a few of my favorites.

Often times you photograph a lot of things, but not very often, at least not recently, have I shot stuff to use for both my portfolio as well as just for fun. That all changed the other day when my friend Kira was passing through and we got to shoot a variety of looks in just a short time. Below are some of my favorites and the square one was 46 images stitched together!

I get a message on Facebook one day, my buddy Jeff tells me he will be fairly close to me as he is taking a lil vacation with his girlfriend. I say, “oh awesome – let’s hook up and I’ll shoot the both of you “. That’s where he said he was bringing something shiny and blingy with him on the trip, aka, someone was planning a proposal.  So that’s when we started planning what day and when. It happened to be on a day I was free, so I headed down early to scout out some potential locations. Even a speeding ticket on the way up to Monterey couldn’t stop this event from happening! Being as the time they would arrive, the park we had selected would be closed, so onto back up location one. Cool park, but didn’t scream ” California ” , if you know what I mean. We decided to go with the beach in Carmel, as it’s absolutely beautiful and offered tons of places to shoot, well that, and Aubri loves the beach. Now mind you, the whole time this is going on, Jeff and I are speaking in code through texts , so the off chance Aubri reads one, she will be none the wiser as to what is going to go down. Things like, ” Oh yeah, the beach is really beautiful around 11th ave.” as well as ” I know when I go to the beach and take pictures, I usually travel light, with say a flannel and black camera bag. ”

Then it happened. I caught a glimpse of the two of then, and that is where my Oscar worthy performance came in, as well as 500 shots of random stuff, to pretend I was shooting waves, or surfers, birds what not. I saw them walk past me onto the rocks, he layed his camera down, and approached me to take pictures of them. I exclaimed I usually just shoot birds and landscapes , but I would do my best. That is when it happened. This is my first proposal and I feel like a crack addict as I want to do more and more. Seeing your friend asking his girlfriend to spend the rest of their lives together, right before your eyes, is something I will not soon forget. I mean, the happiness and tears weren’t just coming from them, if you know what I mean. I am so overjoyed that they have found each other and am looking forward to nothing less than utter and complete happiness from them both.

Thank you Aubri & Jeff for having me there!

This is when I spotted them, but she still had no clue what was up

What first started off many years ago as a fun modeling session, has over time turned into an amazing friendship. It then turned into photographing her wedding, and most recently, family photos and now maternity session. On a recent trip to South Jersey, I got to photograph my bestie’s maternity session in her 3rd trimester. After we shot at the park, we did a little boudoir/maternity which was fun because I have never combined the two.Maternity Session, New Jersey Maternity Photographer, Maternity Sessions in New Jersey Maternity Session, New Jersey Maternity Photographer, Maternity Sessions in New Jersey Maternity Session, New Jersey Maternity Photographer, Maternity Sessions in New Jersey Maternity Session, New Jersey Maternity Photographer, Maternity Sessions in New Jersey
